Jesse Malin’s brand new album ‘Outsiders’ is out today! The video for the first single, “You Know it’s Dark When Atheists Start to Pray”, is available now on the Velvet Elk YouTube Channel.

Fresh off the heels of New York Before The War, Jesse Malin returns with his latest album, Outsiders.

Born out of late night recording sessions in the Pennsylvania woods with producer Don DiLego, far from any expectations, Outsiders presents Jesse Malin in his rawest form yet. Malin himself describes it as “a record built out of optimism and disgust – one for the leavers, the believers, the hustlers and the chicken hawks who could never catch us.”

The collection includes Here’s The Situation, featuring J Masics on guitar, and a cover of The Clash’s Stay Free – especially poignant because Jesse first played it at Ryan Adam’s guitarist, Johnny McNabb’s memorial last year. The lead-off single (also October 2nd) will be You Know It’s Dark When Atheists Start to Pray, an upbeat romp well equipped with “brass in pocket.”

“It’s autobiographical to the point where I even visit my own funeral!” says Jesse (laughs). We all made a deal to stay off the phone and the net during the making of this record, and it felt good to just live in the moment – we just let it roll.”

Jesse is currently on tour in support of the record in the US. Check out the tour dates here.
