About the Album
Garage Pop Rock N Roll duo Bruiser Queen (St. Louis, MO) blend 21st Century punk stomp with 60’s girl group shimmy. Morgan Nusbaum’s vocals and guitar arrive on stage like a Riot Grrrl but bop to the beat of Jason Potter’s huge, dark drumming.
The collaborative effort began in 2010 and quickly garnered a warm reception on local stages. By 2012, a steady Midwest regional touring regiment and the release of their debut album, Swears, helped them win over Midwest audiences and beyond. Follow-up Sweet Static was released with short-lived Boxing Clever Records, and produced the singles “On The Radio” and “Some Girl’s Ghost” – both winners on the 2014 Village Voice Pazz and Jop Singles Chart. A recent partnership with booking agency Atomic Music Group has set Bruiser Queen on a trio of coast-to-coast national tours with Crushed Out, FEA, and SadGirl.
In the span of eight years, Bruiser Queen has been voted “Best Rock Band” (2015-2016) and “Best Garage Band” (2014) in RFT Music Awards Readers Polls, ranked on the KDHX Top Album Spins Chart, and has filled supporting slots for influential artists like X, Best Coast, Murder by Death, Wanda Jackson, Polyphonic Spree, American Wrestlers, Corin Tucker Band, and Those Darlins. They’ve also received invitations to perform at Loufest (2016), Middle of the Map (2014-2015), Savannah Stopover (2016), Valley of the Vapors (2014-2015), Mile of Music (2014-2015), and True/False (2014-2016).
