Bio

With a rafter reaching voice and crazily charismatic stage presence, Kelley Swindall has toured the

country solo with her fiercely unique sound ,for the past decade.   Equally at home in a  biker bar or under a proscenium arch, she seamlessly blends outlaw country with blues, roots and folk.

The oldest of 7 children , Swindall was born in Atlanta, Georgia  to a Conservative US Congressman at the height of Reagan’s America under the rise of the religious right.  She spent her early years traveling from Georgia to DC, until her father’s political career was undone by scandal, and he began serving a prison sentence when she was eight.  Watching her father wrongfully convicted and his futile battle with the American justice system, she grew up with a natural mistrust for authority — leading to a rebellion against her fundamentalist surroundings, hypocritical men of the church, and the double standards of femininity with which she was expected to adhere.

A born storyteller with a sensibility that’s both hilarious and heart-on-sleeve sincere, Swindall’s songs posit strong personalities against a world of misogyny, heartbreak, and hilarious absurdity; celebrating resilient spirits in all their flaws and prowess.

Her idiosyncratic debut album, You Can Call Me Darlin’ If You Want, will be released this summer on Velvet Elk Records.  Look for her first single and accompanying video to the song CALIFORNIA, the tale of two female Drug Runners on a cross country run, in a Charlie Chaplin meets Thelma & Louise road movie, shot on Super 8, over 3 hectic days in New Orleans & Austin.
